Other Projects, Activities, and Randomness

ear(th) was an installation that I collaborated on with artist Steve Roden, and Dr. Mark Simons.  The piece was displayed at the Williamson Gallery, Art Center College of Design, in Pasadena, CA.  From the catalog for the exhibition.

I was tasked with designing a "robot" to play data from the 1999 Hector Mine earthquake.  My final design involved 80 individually driven arms playing xylophones.  These units were than mounted on the top of a giant sounding box, designed by Steve Roden.
Circus Arts

Yes, I study aerial arts ( particularly flying trapeze, spanish web, and static trapeze.)
I'm a beginner and not so skilled yet, but I do love it.  My schools are Circus Juventas and Xelias Aerial Arts

In January 2009, I merged my love of circus arts with my love of teaching and offered ENGR488: Dynamics with Circus Lab, for the first time.  (See my Teaching section for more details.)  The students and I had so much fun doing this class, that I will be starting a small research initiative on the dynamics of circus.
