Leadership Opportunities
for 2008-2009 school year
- The Executive Board will consist of a President, or
Co-Presidents, a Vice President of Finance, Vice President of
Fundraising, a Vice President of Operation and Education, and
Project Mangers (1 for each project).
- To be eligible for an executive position, one must be in
good standing with the institution and must maintain at least a
2.0 cumulative grade point average.
- To be eligible for an executive position, one must be an
affiliated or paid member in good standing with the national ESW
organization and be available for the full term of service or be
approved by the President.
- Nominations will be during our March meeting and voting will
occur at our April meeting.
President
- The President will represent ESW-UST to members of ESW-UST, ESW
national organization and those external to ESW. Duties of the President
include:
a) Assume the duties of any vacant Executive Board position until
filled, with the exception of the Vice President of Finance. (A person
other than the President must always hold the position);
b) Act as a chair for all general and executive meetings.
c) Act as one of the three signing authorities for ESW-UST.
d) Monitor the official email account.
e) Seek out projects and assign them to project managers
f) Help with fundraising and education of ESW projects or any other
areas that are not being fullfilled by other members.
g) Perform duties that enable ESW-UST to achieve the goals of the
mission statement.
VP of Finance
- The Vice President of Finance will be responsible for the handling
of all expenditures associated with ESW-UST. Duties include:
a) Prepare a proposed budget for approval by the President
b) Prepare financial statements at the end of each semester.
c) Act as one of the three signing authorities for ESW-UST.
d) Track income and expenditures for ESW-UST.
e) Collect receipts for “out-of-pocket” money spent and issue
reimbursements.
f) Coordinate the bank account and the postal box.
g) Ensure that financial regulations of UST's student organizations are
followed.
h) Perform duties that enable ESW-UST to achieve the goals of the
mission statement.
VP of Fundraising
- The Vice President of Fundraising will be responsible for acquiring
funds to perform ESW-UST’s mission. Duties include:
a) Create proposals for internal and external funding.
b) Coordinate with ESW national organization to seek funding in the form
of donations from national and international organizations.
c) Organize any fundraising events if more money is needed to run events
than ESW-UST has in its possession. Submit fundraising forms to Campus
Life in accordance with University policy.
d) Perform duties that enable ESW-UST to achieve the goals of the
mission statement.
VP of Education and Operation
- The Vice President of Operation and Education will be responsible
for the dissemination of information regarding the events of the chapter
and continuing the education of all members and the general public by
creating informational events. Duties include:
a) Oversee and maintain:
1) Organizing and maintaining the membership list,
2) The web-page and the Facebook group.
b) Work to expand membership amongst students.
c) Advertise, including posting of notices and events.
d) Record, distribute and archive the minutes of all executive meetings.
e) Coordinate educational events and extending ESW’s message to the
general assembly and public; via presentations, personal meetings,
educational content, guest speakers, etc.
f) Book space for events.
g) Develop content (web, Powerpoint, brochures, etc.) that delivers
specific chapter related information to the public. (This can also be
assigned to the Project Manager for specific information)
h) Perform duties that enable ESW-UST to achieve the goals of the
mission statement.
Project Leads - appointed positions
- The Project Manager will be responsible for completing projects on
campus and through ESW’s national organization. Duties include:
a) Purposing a project to the Executive Board for acceptance.
b) After approval, presenting the project to the general ESW-UST
assembly or the University as a whole for members to work on the
project.
c) Work with the Vice President of Fundraising to either fundraise or
assign members working on the projects to be responsible for the
fundraising of the projects.
d) Facilitate the working of the project to insure that the project is
being completed in a timely manor. All persons working on the project
must communicate effectively and work together to advance the project.
e) Assuming the main responsibility of the project and the members
working on the project.
f) Maintain or assign someone within the project to maintain the project
portion of the web page to advertise community development-focused
courses offered by the university.
g) Maintain records pertaining to the research associated with ESW-UST.
h) Maintain contact and communication with the ESW national organization
regarding partner Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) that are
working with ESW-UST. Maintain contact with the University and general
public about the project.
i) The Project Manager position can be held by the same person holding
another Executive Board position; however, one person cannot be a
Project Manager for more than one project at a time.
Webmaster
- The Webmaster will be responsible for maintaining and updating the
website. Details are still to be formulated.
