On Campus Projects

  • Bio-diesel buses
    • Investigation of feasibility of integrating UST Food Services waste vegetable oil to UST shuttle and campus vehicles

  • Breadfruit Shredding Design
    • Redesign of cheap steel shredder to increase production of versatile fresh food for the people of Haiti

  • Uganda Hydro-Electric Power Generation
    • Brian Osende is trying to create electricity for his hometown in rural Uganda from a running water source. This project is just getting started but if interested there is possibilities of going to Uganda to work on this project in the future.

  • LEED certified student union
    • Anderson Student Center Update:  It will be LEED certified at a minimum and there is a good possibility that it will be silver certified and a smaller possibility that it could be gold certified. It will not be platinum certified. This is from Mark Vangsgard and Jerry Andererly.

     

Outreach Projects

  • Tanzania
    • Harnessing the solar power near the equator to sanitize well water near schools in Africa to prevent the spread of disease
    • Make use of the Pasteurizers as educational tools in the math and science fields for students

Competitions

  • EGB design competition
    • Design a LEED Platinum, performing arts center, which will house an existing historic proscenium/stage and serve as a landmark for local performing arts in the twin cities area. The project is being designed to accommodate an expansion of The Southern Theater, adding rehearsal space, administrative offices, classrooms and meeting rooms, while re-designing the façade, existing common areas and access points for better pre- and post- performance, and intermission experiences. The project location is a high-profile site that connects downtown Minneapolis, the U of M, the Cedar/Riverside Neighborhood, and two light-rail stops (1 existing, 1 planned).
