Books and Bookstore

Bookstore hours are extended at the beginning of each semester to assist students in textbook purchase. Textbooks are available by mail if you desire or can be purchased in the St. Paul Bookstore.  Bookstore hours are available by calling 651-962-6850.  See http://tommiebooks.stthomas.edu
Books may change from semester to semester; make sure you are looking at the correct semester's syllabus when you purchase books.

Graduate Commencement

Graduate commencement will be Friday, December 19, 2008.

If you intend to graduate Fall semester 2008, you must call Student Services at 651-962-5756 to complete the graduation card no later than September XX, 2008.               Top

Parking

Parking Services has a new office, located at the 2119 Grand Avenue building on the corner of Grand Avenue & Finn St. General hours of operation are 8am – 4:30pm with extended hours during the first few weeks of each semester to sell parking permits. Parking permits may also be purchased at the Public Safety and Parking Services department located in Morrison Hall, North Campus, or outside the bookstore during the first week of the semester. Annual permits are good through 8/31/2009. Evening-only permits for either full-year or semester are available at a reduced rate. You will need a UST Student ID card to purchase the permit. Pricing and parking information is available on the Public Safety and Parking Services web site at http://www.stthomas.edu/psps/Parking/Parking Home.htm (on the right under St. Paul Parking, select "Permit & Contract Parking").

Escort Service

An escort service is available on the St. Paul campus while classes are in session. Call 2-5100 from any university telephone if you would like to be escorted to or from class. Escorts will arrive within five minutes and will be able to escort you anywhere within a six-block radius of the St. Paul campus.

Directory Disclosure

Directory information is released to the public unless you specifically request the information not be released. Categories include your name, address, telephone number, class, current schedule of classes, dates of attendance, degrees and awards and other schools attended. To withhold information, notify Student Services in the Engineering office at 651-962-5756 no later than September XX, 2008. Your request must be filled out annually and will remain in effect until the first day of the following fall semester. (See FERPA information.)    Top

Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students these rights with respect to their education records.

  1. The right to inspect and review education records within 45 days of the day the University receives a request for access.
  2. The right to request the amendment of the student’s education records that the student believes are inaccurate or misleading.
  3. The right to consent of disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the student’s education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
  4. The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by the University of St. Thomas to comply with the requirement of FERPA.

In Case of an Emergency

If your family should need to reach you while you are in class, it is important to give the UST Public Safety Department, at 651-962-5100, as much  information as possible. They will need to know the name, number and section of the course you are taking and, if possible, building and room number in order  reach you quickly.                                                     Top

ID Card

You do need a photo I.D. while attending the University of St. Thomas. To get your free I.D. card, visit the Card Office in Room 259 in Murray-Herrick Campus Center. Hours vary by semester. Call 651-962-6069 for hours and information. You do not need to get a new card each year.

The ID card can also be used in campus vending machines, parking facilities, eating facilities and bookstore when an "Express" account is established by prepaying funds to be used by the card. Contact the Card Office to establish an "Express" account.    Top
