This is a major offered by the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. It complies with the curriculum requirements established by US Government standard NSTISSI 4011 for the training of information security professionals. The major will be a candidate for certification under the US Government’s Information Assurance Courseware Certification Program.

A paper describing the curriculum was presented at the regional ASEE meeting in 2007.

The core courses:

CISC 130 or 131 Introductory programming course
STAT 220 Statistics
CISC 230 Java programming
CISC 210 Information Security
CISC 310 Operating Systems
CISC 370 Computer Networking
CISC 320 Systems Analysis and Design I
CISC 410 Information Security Analysis

Plus one CISC upper division elective chosen from the following:

CISC 270 Web Development
CISC 321 Systems Analysis and Design II
CISC 325 E-Commerce Systems
